Are You Supposed to Give a Gift at a Bachelorette Party?

Showing up is the gift. Anything else should fit the tote — I am not hauling a gift tower onto the ferry.

Quick answer

Are you supposed to give a gift at a bachelorette party?

Not required. Showing up, paying your share, and covering the bride's core costs (if that is the group agreement) is the gift. A small card, a toast, or one useful keepsake is plenty if you want something extra — leave the suitcase of junk at home.

Showing up is the gift

You do not owe a wrapped present on top of ferry, lodging, and dinners. Paying your share — and helping cover the bride if that is the group plan — is the contribution. Save the big gifts for the shower or wedding unless she asked.

Want something anyway? Keep it small enough for a tote. A card. A toast you meant. One useful thing. I am not hauling a gift tower onto the Steamship — the tote already has spare flats and the confirmation I printed “just in case.”

A short note Friday night is enough. A shared group gift is optional. Something from a walkable shop if you stumble on it — not a scavenger hunt. Goodie bags are separate: who pays for goodie bags. Shopping without wrecking Saturday: shopping.
